We were in Keswick for a wedding during February half term and whilst other people in the party were happy staying in the soulless chain, Travelodge in nearby Cockermouth, we wanted to go for something more individual – and we’re so glad we did! Not sure where to start in terms of praise!
Hosts – Iain and Sue were so so welcoming and friendly, we literally couldn’t have asked for nicer hosts! On our checkout day we asked to stay a little longer to use the wifi for a bit of work catch up and we had the pleasure of enjoying some tea and biscuits, which was very generous of them. They really went out of their way to make our stay comfortable and welcoming and we really did have a lovely time.
Room – We stayed in the Bonnington room and it was perfect – huge room, with a large extremely comfy bed (with little chocolates on the bed as a little welcome treat too)! The bathroom was spotlessly clean with a nice touch of lovely toiletries to use as well. Biscuits to have with tea and coffee in the room as well – such a nice surprise!
Breakfast – Absolutely delicious! Incredible array of choice, both in terms of continental and cooked. Poached egg in particular was done to perfection and regular top ups of tea and toast were much appreciated! It really was lovely.
The house itself is a short walk to the main street in Keswick, with plenty of parking around the streets. It took us less than 5 minutes to find a nice pub to eat in – couldn’t have asked for a better location.
I couldn’t recommend staying with Iain and Sue enough, we’ve already very strongly recommended to friends and family and if we’re ever back in the area we wouldn’t want to stay anywhere else!
